KABUGO MICKDAD

From surviving the war to advocating for clean water and sanitation, my journey as a plumber in nothern Uganda. The war between Uganda government and the lord's resistance army (LRA) in nothern Uganda was a devasting period that left countless lives shattered and communities torn apart. As a survivor of this brutal conflict, I not only managed to rebuild my life but also found a purpose in advocating for clean water and sanitation in my community.
Growing up in nothern Uganda in a place called lamwo district, palabek, kal. The war was a constant struggle for survival. The LRA's reign of terror brought fear, displacement and unimaginable atrocities to our region. Witnessing the destruction of homes, loss of loved ones and displacement of entire communities left an indelible mark on my psyche. However, amidst the chaos, I held onto hope as child and determined of my community.

In 2006 after the war, I realized the urgency need for basic amenities such as clean water and sanitation in my community. I continued with my studies from primary to high school. After it all in 2012 I decided to challenge myself, I pursued a career as a plumber.
I enrolled in vocational training programs where I acquired the necessary skills and knowledge to address the water and sanitation challenges faced by my communities and other parts of Uganda.

Advocating for clean water and sanitation, Equipped with my newfound skills. I embarked on a mission to advocate for clean water and sanitation in my community.
I started by raising awareness about the importance of hygiene practices and detrimental effect of contaminated water.
Through community meetings, workshop and door to door campaigns. I educated my fellow community members about the significancy of clean water and proper sanitation facilities.

To further my cause, I collaborated with local people ,business owners, schools and hospitals to work towards water and sanitation in my community.
Together we initiated projects of springs wells, construction of storage tanks and latrine in many areas.
As I delved deeper into the issue, I realized that water scarcity and poor sanitation were not only in our community but almost all parts of Uganda. I was motivated by urgency of the situation, I founded Oasis water. An NGO that dedicated to providing sustainable solution to water scarcity and poor sanitation.
Oasis water focus on implementing various strategies to address water scarcity and poor sanitation and these my include; water infrastructure development
,sanitation and hygiene promotion .
